Sunday, August 2, 2009 Marmaduke Analyzed

Having drugged Marmaduke, the little girls abuse him by dressing him up on a hot summer day. Knowing that the girls are committing countless Fashion Faux Pas, Marmaduke hides his head in shame.

The girls then drag Marmaduke through the streets in a small wagon, like a convicted felon of the Middle Ages. On his journey he is taunted by both man and beast. Finally he can take no more, and with a mighty roar he springs from his mode of conveyance. In a panel when was censored due to violence, Marmaduke kills every living creature in the surrounding 2 blocks. In the last panel we see that he is hiding from the police under the Winslow's bed.

The humor here appaently lies in the fact that Marmaduke can't fit under the bed.
